Itinerary of the “Literary Path” of Castel Ritaldi

Castel Ritaldi, a splendid village linked to fairy tales, is the ideal starting point for a journey to discover the region: after visiting the perfectly preserved 1360 Castle and the Church dedicated to Santa Marina, located inside, a few steps from the main square is the small Church of San Nicola, where you can admire a beautiful portal from 1486 as well as, at its inside, frescoes attributed to Spagna and Melanzio.

The walk continues along the “Literary Path” connecting the main town to the most commercial hamlet of the municipality, La Bruna di Castel Ritaldi, which metaphorically revolves around the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Bruna, whose history and constitution is permeated by rich tales of history linked, not least, to the Medici family. Just a few more minutes of walking, cycling or, why not, riding, to reach the beautiful hamlet of Castel San Giovanni, a territory linked to the Trebbiano vine, where the imposing, almost completely intact 14th-century castle is the master, inside which it is possible to visit the parish church dedicated to the Saint. The village, inhabited by numerous families, is home to a number of businesses, including charming B&Bs, which allow tourists to spend an enchanting stay in an enchanted atmosphere, far from the daily routine.
