The Church of St. Apollinare in San Terenziano
Nearby the village, there is the beautiful Romanesque church of St. Apollinare.
The church is situated in a remote and suggestive location in the countryside and it’s surrounded by oak trees. Its facade is made of pink and white stone ashlars and it’s engraved with the Maltese cross; the double-arched window and the small bell gable have been restored, but it’s thanks to them that the church has its charm. The bare interior has a gabled roof held up by a Gothic arch and ends in a semicircular apse with a single-light window in the center. Thanks to hagiographic sources and documents, we know that St. Apollinare’s devotion was widespread along the Byzantine Corridor between Rome and Ravenna.
